The slug never gets a "seal" coming out of the barrel and they tend to "wobble" downrange. Not accurate and they only weigh around 90 grains. With the surgically repaired wrist and the recoil-sensitive factor, I would suggest that you go with something with less recoil than the .45 / .410 Judge. I have one and believe me it has considerably more recoil than my TCP 738 and my PT138.

The best 45 lc loads are Hornady Critical Defense, or hornady revolution.The 2.5" 410 is harder to find than 3" magnums, so if you can find a Magnum JUDGE it would be the best choice. But the 2.5" 410 will still cover more of the cylinder than a 45 colt, so the extra space is not really an issue. The Taurus Judge is legal because there is rifling in the end of the barrel, I believe the inserts are also rifled. Putting a insert into a flare gun is legal, same thing as manufacturing your own gun. These two loads are very close, the very reason that you can shoot both in the same gun! My suggestion is to not try going over the posted presures for the .45LC, your gun wasn't designed for higher presures.
